Ender-Rift Mod 1.10.2,1.10,1.9.4,1.9,1.8.9,1.7.10 provides a virtually unlimited storage solution. This storage has no default way of accessing it (no GUI), and instead relies on external blocks providing inventory access. It can be used blindly with hoppers and pipes, or accessed with an inventory aggregator such as EnderIO’s Inventory Panel.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT MC 1.9

Starting with v0.11.0, Ender-rift will not be using the RF API anymore. In its place, I will use the IEnergyHandler Capability from CapabilityCore.

Capabilitycore’s Energy api is designed to work along with the new Forge-provided Capabilities, IItemHandler and IFluidHandler, while keeping compatible units and semantics to the RF API, to make porting and compatibility easier.

I hope that people will adopt CapabilityCore as a replacement (or addition to) RF, since it makes implementation much much cleaner, by dissociating the feature interfaces from the TileEntities, meaning the resulting code is much more readable and flexible.

However, I want to note that the Energy capability is not an universal solution. Mods with Energy APIs that require more detailed values (such as having voltage+intensity, or different energy tiers, or different classes of energy) are outside the scope of this API, as it’s impossible to satisfy everyone.

1.9 users! Rejoice, the Rift Browser block now has a Searchbox.

Note that since the panel is now a fully fledged inventory aggregator, I am strongly considering making this block require power to interact with non-rift inventories, maybe (just maybe) through some sort of “Automation Driver” block (in that case the Rift itself would probably act as one).

IT’S RECOMMENDED TO UPDATE TO v0.10.0

Some important bugfixes have been done in this version, which fix an issue that could cause the contents of a rift to be lost. If that already happened to you, it is still possible to recover the rift by using cheat/op commands to spawn a rift item with the right ID, like so:

/give <playername> enderrift:itemEnderRift 1 0 {RiftId:<number>}

The rifts are numbered starting at 0, and always growing, so if a new rift would have id 5, that means the previous one was id 4, and so on.

Note that although it is possible to spawn rifts with numbers larger than the last created, it is strongly recommended against, because those numbers will eventually be repeated during normal rift generation.

v0.8 HAS AN INVENTORY BROWSER

This is an experimental feature, so if anyone can find any issue with it, specially if that issue allows duplicating items, I’d like to hear about it.

Backstory

What happens when you trap an in-flight ender pearl in a redstone field, and then send a redstone flux to it? Someone found the answer during what seemed like a catastrophic failure of an experiment.

The ender pearl shatters and in its place a rift is opened into the between-space used by the endermen to teleport. Harnessing this rift, you are able to keep an unlimited amount of items in a seemingly tiny space.

WARNING: Although the ender field is self-sustaining, if the ender field is destroyed, the rift closes, and it has been proven impossible to reach the same between-space ever again!
